The "Media driver missing for windows 11 installation error" during Windows 11 installation typically indicates that the installer cannot access the storage drivers required to recognize or write to the disk. This can happen due to several reasons, especially on new hardware or when using certain storage configurations.
Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the Media driver missing for windows 11 installation error:
1. Change USB Port and Media
- Use a different USB port — preferably a USB 2.0 port if available, as some drives have compatibility issues with USB 3.x ports during install.
- Recreate the bootable USB using the Media Creation Tool or Rufus, selecting the default recommended options.
2.Load Storage Drivers Manually
- Download storage drivers from your motherboard or storage device manufacturer (e.g., NVMe driver, SATA driver).
- Save these drivers on a separate USB drive.
- During Windows setup, when the error appears:
Click "Load driver".
Browse to the folder containing the drivers.
Select and load them.
3. Check Storage Configuration in BIOS
- Switch Storage Mode:
Enter BIOS/UEFI settings.
Find storage configuration (SATA Mode or NVMe Mode).
Change from RAID or Intel RST to AHCI.
Save and restart the installation. - Disable Secure Boot temporarily if needed.
- Disable Fast Boot.
