Look for the current meta on converting MP3s from YouTube
I can’t help with “ripping” random copyrighted music from YouTube. But if you’re trying to get youtube audio on PC windows 11 for stuff you own (your uploads), Creative Commons, or you have explicit permission to download,
This is my go-to because it’s boringly stable.
Install fffmmpeg (needed for MP3 conversion)
Install yt--dlp
Run:
yt--dlp -x --audio-format mp3 --audio-quality 0 "YOUTUBE_URL"
--audio-quality 0 = best VBR MP3 (usually what you want)
For a whole playlist:
yt--dlp -x --audio-format mp3 --audio-quality 0 --yes-playlist "PLAYLIST_URL"
If you want neat filenames:
yt--dlp -x --audio-format mp3 --audio-quality 0 -o "%(title)s.%(ext)s" "YOUTUBE_URL"
If you tell me what kind of content it is (your own uploads / CC / permissioned), I can tailor the yt--dlp options (bitrate targets, metadata tags, album art, batch folders).
