Most of the common beginner editors have already been mentioned, so I’d suggest choosing based on your actual workflow rather than looking for a single “best” program.
Before installing anything, check:
- Whether it exports without a watermark
- Whether the free version limits resolution or frame rate
- Whether it supports your phone’s video format
- Whether it runs smoothly on your PC
- Whether projects can be moved or backed up easily
For a beginner, the most important features are reliable trimming, a clear timeline, simple audio controls, and straightforward exporting. Advanced effects and AI tools are less important at the start.
I would also avoid editors that advertise themselves as free but only reveal watermarks, export limits, or subscription requirements after you finish the project. Test a short video first before committing to a larger edit.
