Look for the best PDF watermark remover on Windows 11
Hi,
Currently sit on a Windows 11 laptop and I have a few PDF files that contain watermarks. Some of them were added by tools I used before, and now I want to remove the watermark so the PDF looks cleaner for reading, printing, or sharing. I am not very experienced with PDF editing software, so I am looking for something beginner-friendly.
Can anyone recommend a good PDF watermark remover for Windows 11? I would prefer a desktop program instead of an online tool because I am worried about uploading private PDF files to random websites. It would be great if the software can remove text or image watermarks without damaging the original PDF layout.
Free tools watermark remover are welcome, but I am also open to paid software if it is reliable and easy to use.

Why not use Microsoft Edge to remove watermark from PDF files on your Windows PC? Edge has built-in PDF tools that include drawing and erasing capabilities, which work well for removing watermarks that are simple overlays or ink annotations. Let me walk you through the process.
What works well:
* Removing watermarks that were added as ink annotations, drawings, or markups within Edge or similar PDF viewers
* Erasing "pen" marks, highlighting, and basic text box annotations
Microsoft Edge is a surprisingly capable free tool for you remove watermarks from PDF files, provided those watermarks were added as annotations or ink drawings. It is completely free, requires no installation beyond the browser already on your Windows PC, and takes only a few clicks. For embedded watermarks, however, you will need a more powerful PDF editing tool.

you can use Libre Office Draw as a PDF watermark remover on your Windows PC. making it an excellent choice if you are concerned about privacy or simply do not want to install paid software . Here is the step-by-step process to get your PDF looking clean and professional.
While this method works perfectly for many PDFs, there are a few limitations you should be aware of:
- Complex Formatting May Shift: Because Draw converts the PDF into an editable document, complex layouts might shift slightly. Usually, simple text documents and forms remain intact.
- It is a Manual Process: If your PDF has 100 pages and a watermark on every page, you will need to hit Page Down and Delete 100 times. There is no "Remove All" button in Draw for this.
- Password-Protected Files: If the PDF is locked, you cannot use this method until you remove the password protection using another PDF watermark remover.
This method is a great free alternative because it keeps your files safe on your hard drive without needing to upload them to a sketchy website . Just take it one page at a time, and you will have a clean document ready to share or print.

Google Docs is a free, web-based tool from Google that can remove watermarks from PDF files with just a few clicks. While it requires an internet connection, it runs entirely in your browser—no software installation, no paid subscriptions, and no third-party accounts beyond a free Google account (which you likely already have).

I found an option that fits your specific requirements—Stirling-PDF. It is a completely free, open-source PDF toolkit that includes dedicated watermark removal functionality. Unlike many other tools, it runs locally on your Windows 11 machine (keeping your files private) and does not require an account or subscription.
How It Works for Removing Watermarks
As a PDF watermark remover, Stirling-PDF includes a dedicated "Delete Watermark" function. You simply:
1. Drag and drop your watermarked PDF into the tool
2. Click the "Delete Watermark" button
3. The software processes the file and removes the watermark, keeping the original text 100% clear and intact
The PDF watermark remover has been tested on documents with "full-screen text watermarks" and successfully removed them while preserving all underlying content.
Because Stirling-PDF runs locally on your computer, no document is ever uploaded to external servers. This makes it a good choice if privacy is a concern—unlike online "free" PDF editors that require you to upload your files to unknown third-party servers.

Okular is an open-source PDF reader and editor, but it is not a true pdf watermark remover and cannot directly remove embedded watermark objects. It only provides tools for covering up watermarks on pages.
It allows you to hide unwanted watermarks with annotations, but using this feature does not actually remove the original watermark data from the PDF file.
First, download and install the software from the official website. Open the PDF file in the software, then click Tools → Annotation Tools.
Use the Stamp or Annotation tool to place a white box over the watermark area. Alternatively, you can use the Eraser tool to permanently cover the watermark with a solid block. When you're done, save the modified PDF file.
Once saved, the watermark will be visually hidden in the document.
This method cannot be used as a proper pdf watermark remover that deletes the underlying watermark data, so it is only suitable for users who just need to hide watermarks for personal viewing or simple sharing.
If you don’t want to use paid software, you can try this method. This is a basic workaround, so you should be aware that the watermark is not truly removed.
