Link my digital license to my Microsoft account?
For the second time now, a Windows update has failed to install on my PC, and I'm worried this might be affecting how my digital license is linked to my Microsoft account. Can someone please explain ...
Hi, a failed Windows Update normally does not unlink your digital license. Go to Settings > System > Activation. The ideal status is "Windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account." If it only says digital license, sign into Windows with your Microsoft account, then run the Activation troubleshooter. Make sure the installed edition, Home or Pro, matches the license. You can also confirm the PC appears at account.microsoft.com/devices, although that device list is separate from activation. Keep proof of purchase, but there is no need to buy another key while Windows still shows activated.
