Light leaking around the edges of the screen
Hi — this sounds much more like backlight bleed or panel pressure than a Windows setting. A little edge glow can be normal on some LCD/IPS panels, but bright patches that are visible at normal brightness can indicate panel fit or damage.
To separate hardware from software, show a plain black image, lower brightness to a normal level, and also check the screen in the BIOS/UEFI menu. If the same bright areas are visible before Windows starts, drivers and color settings are not the cause. Be aware that phone cameras often exaggerate the effect, so judge it with your eyes at your usual viewing position.
If the laptop or monitor is new, compare it with the manufacturer’s acceptance policy and contact them while it is under warranty. Avoid pressing or twisting the bezel, as that can make the bleed worse.
