Lenovo X1 Nano randomly freezes or shuts down during Teams/browser use

Hi everyone, I’m using a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano and I’m running into a frustrating problem I can’t shake. Whenever I load my website Lauth Investigations (including the WordPress backend) or join video calls, the laptop will behave erratically: browsers freeze or become unresponsive, pages (and the WP admin) hang for long periods, video/audio stutters during Teams calls, and in some cases the machine will hard-shutdown or crash instead of just recovering. The behavior often looks like a sudden spike in CPU/latency followed by a freeze or forced reboot — everything will be fine for a while and then the issue appears mid-session.

I’ve already tried the usual troubleshooting steps: installed the latest Windows updates, updated Lenovo firmware/BIOS and drivers via Lenovo Vantage/System Update, updated Intel drivers (including ME), disabled hardware acceleration in browsers, tested with and without the dock, and reset power-plan/processor maximum states, but the problem still pops up intermittently. It’s making day-to-day work (and editing the WordPress backend) unreliable.

Has anyone else with an X1 Nano seen these exact symptoms (freezes, lags, or shutdowns tied to Teams or heavy browser/WordPress use)? If so, what concrete fixes worked for you, specific BIOS versions, driver rollbacks, Teams settings, or Lenovo/Intel patches that actually stopped the crashes? Any configuration or logs I should collect to help diagnose it would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Go to Device Manager → System devices

    Look for "Intel DPTF" entries

Update drivers through Lenovo Vantage, or if already updated, try rolling back to an older version

Some users report success by disabling DPTF entirely
