How to wipe a hard drive completely on Windows 11?

Using the Command Prompt in Windows 11 provides a straightforward way to completely wipe a hard drive without the need for third-party tools. This method uses the built-in Diskpart utility, which can erase all data from a drive, ensuring it cannot be recovered easily. Follow the steps below to safely wipe your hard drive using Command Prompt.
How to wipe a hard drive windows 11 in command line:
- Open Command Prompt as administrator.
- Type diskpart and press Enter.
- Type list disk to display all connected drives.
- Type select disk X (replace X with the number of your hard drive).
- Type clean all to securely wipe the disk.
Type exit once complete.
Why it's good? Command Prompt is a native Windows tool and ensures a deep wipe of the entire disk.
This dosent "securly" wipe a disk, it just removed the partitioning information. The data could still be on the disk especially if magnetic disks. Solid state might be a bit more tricky to recover, if at all.
