As far as I know, there are two simple ways to transfer photos from iPad to a Windows PC. One is USB and other is wirelessly via wifi.
USB is better when:
- Transferring large batches of photos or high-resolution files — it's significantly faster
- You have an unreliable or slow Wi-Fi connection
- You want a direct, stable connection with no interruptions
- You're doing a one-time bulk transfer
Wireless is better when:
- You're transferring a small number of photos casually
- You want convenience without hunting for a cable
- You use iCloud Photos or OneDrive, where photos sync automatically in the background with no manual steps at all
- Your devices are in different rooms
In terms of speed, USB is generally the clear winner if you want to transfer photos from iPad to PC on Windows 11 and Windows 10. A USB 3.0 cable can transfer several gigabytes per minute, while Wi-Fi speeds vary greatly depending on your router and signal strength. For large video files or RAW photos, the difference can be dramatic.
