How to install non app store apps with Windows 11
Hi, silly question I know but can someone help me install UrBackup Client software on a friends pc? Or any other apps not in the Microsoft Store. The UrBackup Client installation file (.msi) has been downloaded into the Downloads folder but when I right click it there is no option to run as administrator, just an install option. Using the install option works up to the point when services need to be started during the installation process at which point it just hangs and I have to end the process.
I've read many articles on line but non so far have provided a run as administrator option. This is a Windows 11 Pro platform by the way.
Having to use a "run as administrator" option to install software has been a pet hate of mine for years really as obviously the a/c I'm using is an administrator a/c so why there needs to be a "higher" level of access to install software the end user has chosen to install on a device they've bought for their own use is beyond me anyway. Clearly if the administrator wants to restrict other a/c users to not be able to install other software this can be achieved by setting the required level when creating the a/c in the first place.
