Windows 11 has a built-in tool that can help you identify which find out what's taking up space on a C drive. You can use the built-in tool called "Disk Cleanup" or the more detailed "Disk Usage" tool, also known as the "Disk Cleanup" feature within the "Settings" app. However, a more straightforward and user-friendly tool is the "Storage Sense" feature, and the "System Settings" > "Storage" page.
Here's how to use the built-in tools to find out what's taking up space on a C drive:
Method 1: Storage Sense
- Go to "Settings" (Windows key + I)
- Click on "System"
- Click on "Storage"
- Under "This PC," click on the "C:" drive
- Click on "View storage usage by file type" to see a breakdown of the types of files consuming the most space
Method 2: Disk Cleanup
- Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box
- Type "cleanmgr" and press Enter
- Select the C drive and click "OK"
- Disk Cleanup will analyze the drive and show you a list of files to delete
