How to Convert Text to Audio for Free
For people who mainly want to listen to online articles, Microsoft Edge Read aloud may be enough without installing a separate text-to-speech application. Open the article in Edge, switch to a reader-style view if the page supports it, and choose Read aloud from the page menu. The voice and reading speed can be changed while playback is running.
This is especially useful for news articles, documentation, and study pages because it avoids copying the entire page into another app. It is less convenient for building a personal library of pasted notes, so a dedicated reader such as @Voice Aloud Reader on Android may be better for that use case.
Apps such as Speechify, NaturalReader, and ElevenReader can also be tested, but their free plans may limit premium voices, document imports, AI voices, or total listening time.
