How to compress 1GB video to 10MB without losing too much quality?
Hi everyone, I have a video file that's about 1GB and I need to get it down to roughly 10MB for an upload limit. I know that's a massive compression ratio, so I'm expecting some quality loss, but I ...
Getting a 12-minute, 1 GB video down to 10 MB is technically possible, but I wouldn't approach it that way. A video compression program like https://kitkarl.com/squisher can shrink your file down to exactly 10mb if you tell it to in target file size mode, but the best approach is to use "quality" mode, where you just set it to the lowest quality and let the program figure out the absolute smallest size while retaining an acceptable level of quality.
Be sure to check if where you are sending it to accepts modern video files in HEVC or AV1 compression.
Other alternatives are something like Handbrake or Shutter Encoder.
