How to compress 1GB video to 10MB without losing too much quality?
Hi everyone, I have a video file that's about 1GB and I need to get it down to roughly 10MB for an upload limit. I know that's a massive compression ratio, so I'm expecting some quality loss, but I ...

If you are trying to compress 1gb video to 10mb, PeerTube can be useful for hosting and sharing compressed video files, although the actual size reduction should be done before uploading.
How to use:
- Compress the original video with a suitable video encoder.
- Check the output size and quality.
- Open your PeerTube instance and upload the finished file.
- Wait for the video to finish processing.
Disadvantages:
- PeerTube itself is not primarily a video compression tool.
- A 1 GB file may not reach 10 MB while keeping good quality.
- Upload and processing time depends on the connection and server.
For compress 1gb video to 10mb, keep in mind that such a large reduction will usually require a significant drop in resolution or quality.
Note:
- Keep the original video before compression.
- Check the final quality before deleting the source file.
- If 10 MB is a strict limit, lower resolution and bitrate may be necessary.
