How to clear the Location service - Recent Activity

I use an app called Homedale to view nearby Wi-Fi signals. This helps me choose which channels are best to use for my router.

It uses the Location service in Windows 11. It scans my area every few seconds.

When I go to Settings/Privacy & Security and click on 'Location' under the App Permissions section, under Recent Activity it is showing that Homedale has used the Location service over 10000 times in the past 7 days.

My question... How can I clear this recent activity list?

  • To clear Location history in Windows 11 using Windows Settings, follow these steps:

    1. Press Win+I to open Windows Settings.
    2. Switch to the Privacy & security tab on the left side.
    3. Click on the Location setting on the right side.
    4. Find out the Location history option.
    5. Click on the Clear button.

    Hey Tanner,

Windows 11 doesn’t currently provide a built-in option to manually clear the Location service’s recent activity list. That section is meant to show transparency for how often apps access your location and usually resets automatically over time — typically every 7 days.

If you’re looking to limit the log or reduce the count:

You could temporarily disable location access for Homedale from the same settings page.

Or, stop the app from running in the background if you're not actively using it.

Unfortunately, there’s no direct “clear history” button for that specific list right now. Hopefully, Microsoft adds more control over this in future updates
