How to clear or remove the 'currently playing' audio function from the Taskbar

Image for reference; this tab was closed days ago but still appears in this pop-up when I go to change my sound settings. Is there a way to clear this out or disable this feature, since I don't ever use that pop-up to pause or change tracks?
