How do I transfer music from pc to iphone without itunes?
Got a new iPhone and want to transfer my songs to iPhone.
But I really hate iTunes. It feels slow, confusing, and half the time my songs don't show up on the iPhone after sync. Currently, I am trying to transfer music from my Windows PC to my iPhone. They are normal MP3 and high quality FLAC tracks.
I just want a simple way to transfer music from pc to iphone without itunes. Free or paid is fine if it actually works and keeps the music quality.
What do you guys use? Thanks.

Using an external storage device along with the built-in Files app is a completely free and effective method to transfer music from PC to iPhone without iTunes. It works especially well if you already own a USB flash drive, as it requires no paid software or online subscriptions. The process relies on a physical connection, so your music files never touch the cloud, offering a high level of privacy.
What You Need to Get Started
- A USB Flash Drive: This is where you will initially copy your music from your PC. Ensure the drive is formatted in a way that iPhones can read (typically FAT32 or exFAT).
- An Adapter (Lightning or USB-C): This allows you to plug your standard USB flash drive into your iPhone.
- If your iPhone has a Lightning port (iPhone 14 and older), you need a "Lightning to USB Camera Adapter". This is Apple's official solution, often called the Camera Connection Kit (CCK) .
- If your iPhone has a USB-C port (iPhone 15 or newer), you can use a standard USB-C to USB adapter or connect the drive directly if it has a USB-C connector .
Important Note: For some older or third-party adapters to work with a standard flash drive, they may need to be plugged into a power source, but with modern iOS versions and simple flash drives, this is often not a requirement.
How to transfer music from PC to iPhone without iTunes:
Step 1: Prepare Your Music on the PC
Step 2: Connect the Drive to Your iPhone
Step 3: Access the Files App on Your iPhone
Step 4: Locate and Copy Your Music
Using the Files app to transfer music from PC to iPhone without iTunes is very reliable, but it comes with one major difference compared to using iTunes.
- It does not add music to the default Apple Music app.
- Instead, your music lives in the Files app. This means your songs will be organized in a file-and-folder structure, similar to how you organize documents on a computer, rather than a traditional music library sorted by artist and album.

Unless you need to transfer 50GB of data at once, using a cloud service is a seamless, hands-off solution that lets you transfer music from pc to iphone without itunes. It’s an ideal choice for users who want wireless access to their music library while avoiding the hassle of cables, synchronization errors, or iTunes’ complex interface.
First, choose a cloud service that meets your storage needs: Google Drive offers 15GB of free storage, while iCloud Drive provides 5GB for Apple users.
Install the desktop app or use the web version, then create a dedicated music folder. Upload all your other audio files to that folder—most services support drag-and-drop transfers and will sync automatically in the background.
On your iPhone, download the corresponding cloud app and sign in with the same account. If you only need basic playback features, you can stream audio files directly through the cloud app; however, if you need to play high-quality audio files or use advanced features such as offline downloads, custom playlists, and equalizer controls, we recommend using a third-party player. It can connect directly to your cloud account, allowing you to browse, stream, or download audio files without any loss of sound quality, metadata issues, or compression.
This method keeps your music accessible anywhere with Wi-Fi or cellular data, and files stay organized just like they are on your PC. You can add new songs from your computer anytime, and they’ll automatically appear on your iPhone’s cloud-connected player. With no iTunes sync required, it’s a low-maintenance, reliable way to transfer music from pc to iphone without itunes while preserving your audio quality and metadata.

If you want to keep your high-quality FLAC files exactly as they are, the best approach is to use a third-party player, such as Readdle’s Documents. These apps operate as standalone entities, so you don’t have to worry about synchronization issues with your Apple Music library.
Download the app on your iPhone
The Steps:
- Open the app on your iPhone and go to the “Network” or “Wi-Fi Transfer” tab.
- Enable Share via Wi-Fi. The app will assign you a local IP address.
- Open any web browser on your computer and enter that address in the address bar.
- Drag and drop the audio file directly into the browser window.
Result: The music transfers over your home Wi-Fi directly into the app. No cables, no syncing, and 100% quality retention. This is a simple, effective way to transfer music from pc to iphone without itunes.
This method works entirely over your local network, no iTunes or cloud services required, making it a great way to transfer music from pc to iphone without itunes while keeping your audio quality intact.

Using Google Drive is a reliable, completely free method to transfer music from PC to iPhone without itunes. It's a particularly smart choice if you're a self-described "newbie" because it uses familiar tools: your web browser on the PC and an app on your iPhone. You don't need any cables, and there's no complex setup.
Step 1: Upload Your Music from the PC
First, you need to get your music files from your computer up into the Google Drive cloud. This part is done entirely in your web browser.
- Go to the Google Drive website and sign in with your Google account.
- Upload your songs: Click the "New" button (or a "+" icon), then select "File upload". A window will pop up allowing you to browse your computer and select the MP3 files you want to transfer.
Step 2: Access and Download on Your iPhone
Now that your music is in the cloud, you need to get it onto your phone.
- Install the App: On your iPhone, go to the App Store and download the official Google Drive app. It's completely free .
- Sign In: Open the app and log in using the exact same Google account you used on your PC.
- Find Your Songs: You will see the music files you uploaded earlier. They will be listed in the main folder or the "Music" folder depending on where you saved them.
- Save the Songs to Your iPhone: Tap the three dots (...) next to the song file or folder name. In the menu that appears, look for an option like "Open in" or "Download".
Step 3: How to Listen to Your Music
This is the most important part to understand: The music will not automatically show up in the Apple Music app. Instead, when you tap "Open in," your iPhone will ask which app you want to use to play the song. This is actually a great opportunity to use a dedicated offline music player.
I hope this step-by-step guide helps you transfer music from PC to iPhone without iTunes.
