How do I save a Facebook video to my computer?
- Feb 21, 2025
There are so many facebook video downloader options out there and I spent hours to find a working one in 2025. In fact, many of them are not working anymore. AllClipDown is my favorite app for bulk download facebook videos in HD formats.
I followed this guide (works great)
https://www.sandeski.com/download-facebook-videos-to-computer
And already downloaded more than 200 facebook videos on my Windows PC.
I have also encountered the problem of saving Facebook videos to computer before. I tried various methods and found that Facebook itself does not provide a download function. Right-clicking it is useless. Online tools on the Internet have many advertisements and slow speeds. Some even require logging in to an account, which is too risky. Later, after a lot of trouble, I found several stable methods that I can share with you.
Method 1: Use the browser developer tools
This method does not require software installation, but the operation is slightly more complicated:
- Open the Facebook video page and press F12 or Ctrl+Shift+I (Cmd+Option+I for Mac) to open the developer tools.
- Click "Network", then play the video, and you can see the video address in the "Media" tab.
- Copy the address, open it in a new browser tab, and then right-click "Save As" to download.
Method 2: Modify the Facebook video link (suitable for ordinary users)
- Open the Facebook video and change the URL www.facebook.com to mbasic.facebook.com.
- After pressing Enter, you will enter the simplified version page and click to play the video.
- Right click "Save as" to download to computer.
These methods can save Facebook video to computer, it depends on which one you are more used to.
I personally use yt--dlp the most, it is convenient and fast. If you only download occasionally, you can directly change the mbasic URL or use the developer tool, the effect is the same!

mbasic has not worked for me in some time. And method 1 does not work as stated here for me. Method one worked when I switched emulator to mobile. then the media showed up up the pane and I was able then to right click and open in new tab and download the video. At least it worked for me today.

What is the emulator and where is it? I am having the same problem you were. It does not give me the URL under the media tab.

This worked for me now 8th June 2025.
First time downloading a Facebook video. I just followed the instructions given by other posters:
No need to download any third party software.
I opened the video on Facebook on desktop using Firefox browser. I wasn't signed in to a Facebook account.
Pressed F12 on keyboard.
Clicked on Network then Media tabs .
Changed to mobile and then randomly choose iPhone 12 Max. (I'm not sure if this is required)
Closed the Facebook tab on browser then opened it again in a new tab.
I had to click RELOAD.
Then I right clicked on the video URL to open in new tab
The video opened up perfectly allowing me to right click and save.
Delighted. Thank you.
