How do I get a windows 11 activation key free or at cheap price?

Why Windows 11 activation key is so expensive nowadays? I go to the Microsoft Store and the Windows 10 Home costs 139 USD!!! The refurbished PC I bought from eBay is only $300 and the hardware specs...

Activating Windows 11 for free legally is only possible under specific conditions. Here are the official ways to get a genuine activated copy without paying.

Use a Windows 7/8/8.1/10 Product Key

Microsoft still accepts older valid keys for Windows 11 activation:

During installation, enter a Windows 7/8/8.1/10 key (same edition, e.g., Home or Pro).

If already installed, go to Settings > System > Activation > Change product key and enter the old key.

Join Windows Insider Program (Not Fully Licensed)

You can install Windows 11 for free via the Windows Insider Program (Beta/Dev channels), but:

  • Requires a Microsoft account.
  • May show a watermark ("Evaluation copy").
  • Not recommended for long-term use (can be unstable).

⚠️ What Happens If You Don't Activate Windows 11?

You can use Windows 11 without activation, but with limitations:

  • A watermark: "Activate Windows" on the desktop.
  • No personalization (can’t change themes, wallpapers, etc.).
  • No security updates after a while (not guaranteed).
