How do I combine multiple PDFs into one PDF on mac?
Finder's Quick Action is a built-in macOS feature that allows you to combine multiple PDFs into one PDF directly from your desktop or any Finder window, without needing to open any application. This is one of the fastest ways to combine PDF documents on Mac.
Here is the step-by-step process to combine PDF documents on Mac using this method:
1. Select your PDFs: In a Finder window, navigate to the folder containing the PDFs you want to merge. Hold down the Command (⌘) key and click on each PDF to select all the files you want to combine.
2. Open the context menu: With the files selected, right-click (or Control-click) on any one of the highlighted PDFs to open the context menu.
3. Choose the Quick Action: In the menu that appears, hover your cursor over Quick Actions. Then, select Create PDF from the submenu.
Alternative Access: If the Preview pane is open on the right side of your Finder window (View > Show Preview), you can also click the Create PDF button at the bottom of this pane to perform the same action.
4. Find your merged PDF: The new, combined PDF will be created and saved in the same folder as your original files. It will typically be named after the first file you selected, often with a number appended to it (e.g., MyReport 2. pdf). You can then rename this file to whatever you prefer.
If you don't see the Create PDF option under Quick Actions, you can enable it.
In the Quick Actions menu, choose Customize.... This will open the System Settings to the Extensions pane where you can ensure the checkbox for Create PDF is ticked.
