Using the Registry is indeed the most direct and effective way to disable the Bing integration in Windows 11, as there's no built-in setting to simply toggle it off. While you can't technically "uninstall" Bing, these registry modifications effectively remove Microsoft Bing from Windows 11's search functionality.
How to Remove Microsoft Bing from Windows 11 Search via Registry
- Open Registry Editor: Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
- Navigate to the Path: Use the address bar at the top of the window to paste the path for the
- recommended method: HKEY_ CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer. If you don't see the Explorer folder (key), you'll need to create it: right-click on the Windows folder, select New > Key, and name it Explorer.
- Create the DWORD: Right-click on an empty space in the right-hand pane, select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value, and name it DisableSearch BoxSuggestions.
- Modify the Value: Double-click the new key, set the "Value data" to 1, and click "OK".
- Restart Explorer: For the change to take effect without a full restart, you can restart Windows Explorer. Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), find "Windows Explorer" in the "Processes" tab, right-click it, and select "Restart".
If the Explorer key doesn't work or you want to apply the change system-wide, you can use the BingSearch Enabled key as a supplementary measure. You can also apply the recommended DisableSearchBoxSuggestions key at the machine level (HKLM\ Software\Policies\Microsoft\ Windows\Explorer) to affect all users on the device.
