Adobe Illustrator can be used as a cool font maker. It has built-in feature to let you easily create vector based images with copy and paste.
How to make cool font for copy and paste:
- Create a new document (e.g., 1000×1000 px) and enable Grid and Rulers to maintain consistent letter heights.
- Use the Pen Tool, Shape Builder Tool, and Pathfinder to draw your first few key letters (start with "n", "o", "H", and "O").
- Place each letter on a separate artboard or named layer, and expand all strokes (Object → Path → Outline Stroke).
- Add vertical guide lines on each letter to set consistent left and right side-bearing spacing.
- Export each completed letter individually as an SVG file (File → Export → Export As → SVG).
- Import each SVG into a font editor like FontForge, Glyphs, or Calligraphr, matching each letter to its correct glyph slot.
- Adjust kerning and spacing between letter pairs (e.g., "AV", "To") within the font software.
- Generate and export your font as a .ttf or .otf file, then install it on your computer for use.
However, Illustrator itself cannot export a functional font file (like .ttf or .otf). Instead, you use it to design each character, then export those designs to a specialized font-creation program for final assembly. This workflow is favored by professional type designers because it combines Illustrator's powerful drawing tools with dedicated font software's technical requirements.
