How can I crop PDF pages for free?
The wider tables are a good reason to look at Briss. It’s a free, open-source desktop PDF cropper that overlays pages, helping you see where the content sits across a group instead of checking every page separately.
Download Briss, install Java if your system needs it, and load the PDF. It groups pages and displays overlapping previews. Draw or resize the crop rectangles around the content, use Preview to inspect the result, then choose Crop PDF to save a new file.
The useful part is the overlay: if a table extends farther sideways than the surrounding text, you can leave the rectangle wide enough to include it. Odd and even pages can also be handled separately, which helps with mirrored book margins.
Its interface is a little dated, but it runs locally and is well suited to repeated page layouts. For a group containing an unusually wide table, keeping a slightly wider crop is better than trimming that table away.
