How Can I Convert PDF to EPUB without Losing Format in Windows 11?
I have a large collection of PDF documents, and I've found that reading them on my e-reader can be challenging due to the format and layout. I think converting these files to ePub could make the reading experience much smoother and more flexible, as EPU is more responsive and easier to customize on most e-readers. However, I'm not sure what the best tools or methods are for making this conversion.
I've seen a few online PDF to EPUB converter tools, but I’m a bit cautious about using them because some of my files contain sensitive information. I’d prefer a reliable and secure offline method to convert PDF to EPUB without losing format if possible. Additionally, I’d appreciate any tips or recommendations on settings to ensure the layout, fonts, and images are preserved as much as possible in the ePub format.
Thanks for your reply!

I've used PDF to epub tool personally to bulk change PDFs to ePub, and I can vouch for its reliability and security. It really keeps the document's layout, fonts, and images intact, which is essential for maintaining the quality of the original document in the ePub format.
You can followed this guide:(worked for me):

I'm not in favor of using PDF2epub to convert PDF to EPUB on Windows 11. If you're not super familiar with command-line tools, this can be a bit of a headache. The command-line interface isn't the friendliest, especially if you're used to nice, shiny GUI programs. You’ll need to remember the syntax and make sure everything's perfect, otherwise you’ll get errors that could leave you scratching your head.
Sometimes the output could be hit or miss, depending on the complexity of your PDF. Like I mentioned earlier, it might handle simple text-based PDFs just fine, but throw in some images or complex layouts, and you could be in for a real surprise (and not the good kind).
One of the biggest bummers is that you don’t get a ton of options for tweaking your output. If your PDF has a lot of fancy formatting—think tables, images, or special fonts—you might end up with an ePub that looks pretty wonky. It’s like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. You might get a basic conversion, but don’t expect it to look as polished as you’d hoped.

As far as I know, ePub files are often smaller than PDFs, which can save storage space on your devices. Additionally, smaller file sizes make it easier to share or transfer books across devices without sacrificing quality or readability. This is especially advantageous if you keep a large library of e-books.
Fortunately, there are many free PDF to EPUB Converters you can use in order to bulk convert PDF files to EPUB on a Windows 11 or Windows 10 pC.

Since Windows 11 comes with Microsoft Edge, you can actually read PDFs in it, but it doesn’t convert files directly. If you want to convert PDF to EPUB, you can save the PDF as a web page (HTML) and then convert that HTML to EPUB using Calibre:
- Open PDF in Edge: Right-click your PDF file and select “Open with” -> “Microsoft Edge.”
- Save as Web Page: Click on the three dots in the top-right corner, go to “Print,” and select “Save as PDF.” Choose “Web Page” as the format.
- Convert with Calibre: Now, using the converted HTML file, you can follow the Calibre steps above to convert it to EPUB.

You can do this with PDF2epub. It is a command-line tool designed to convert PDF files to ePub format, but it's not as widely known or standardized as tools like Calibre. It’s often mentioned in discussions of lightweight tools for converting e-books, but in practice, it’s somewhat rare to find a standalone command-line tool named exactly "PDF2ePub" that is commonly used or supported on major platforms.
In fact, in many cases, what is referred to as "PDF2ePub" might actually be a feature in broader e-book management software or a shorthand reference for general free PDF to ePub converters. Below is a simple command to help you convert PDF ebooks to ePub:
pdf2epub input.pdf output.epub
Pros: Simple to use with basic options; decent for straightforward PDF to ePub conversions.
Cons: Limited customization options and can struggle with highly formatted PDFs.

You’re thinking about converting PDF ebooks to EPUB using Edge on a Windows 11 PC? First off, the conversion quality isn’t always great. PDF layouts can get pretty complicated with images, tables, and funky fonts. When you save it as EPUB, that formatting can go all over the place. You might end up with a jumbled mess that’s hard to read.
Edge isn’t really a dedicated PDF to EPUB converter tool, so you won’t have options to tweak or edit anything before you convert. If you need to adjust margins, font sizes, or anything like that, you’re out of luck.
If the PDF has scanned images or is just an image of text (like, say, if you downloaded a book that was actually a picture of a page), Edge isn’t going to recognize the text. It just won’t convert that stuff at all.

ePub is specifically designed for e-books and supports features that PDFs do not, like dynamic text reflow. This means you can scroll or swipe through pages smoothly, and text fits nicely on each page without the need for constant zooming and panning. This is particularly useful for longer documents, novels, or textbooks.
Converting PDFs to ePub allows you to take advantage of e-book-friendly features and ultimately enhances your reading experience, especially on devices designed for digital reading.

Converting PDF to ePub can be beneficial for several reasons, especially if you're an avid reader or need a more flexible format for your devices.
PDFs are typically static in layout, which can make them hard to read on smaller screens. Unlike PDFs, ePub files are responsive, meaning they adapt to different screen sizes and allow you to adjust font size, type, and line spacing. This flexibility makes reading more comfortable on e-readers, tablets, and smartphones. This is why a lot of people want to convert pdf to epub without losing format. However, it is a big challenge doing this on a Windows machine.
