How can I convert heic to PDF on Windows 11 PC?
Hi,
I'm having some trouble with a batch of HEIC images that I transferred from my iPhone to my Windows 11 PC. Unfortunately, the Photos app on Windows 11 isn't able to open these HEIC files, and I need to convert the heic images to PDF for easier sharing and printing.
In fact, I've tried a few online HEIC to PDF Converters, but they don't work for batch conversion. Unfortunately, I still haven't found a straightforward method to convert these images to PDF. I would greatly appreciate any advice or recommendations on tools or methods to efficiently convert HEIC images to PDF.
Thank you

You can convert HEIC to PDF on Windows with PDFgear’s online converter or with Microsoft Photos and the built-in Microsoft Print to PDF printer.
When you convert HEIC photos to PDF, the pictures become PDF pages. Photographed text remains part of the image unless you use OCR to recognize it, and simply renaming .heic to .pdf will not convert the file.
Save a HEIC picture as a PDF with Windows Photos
For one picture, Microsoft Photos and the built-in Microsoft Print to PDF printer can handle the task, provided Photos can open the HEIC file.
- Right-click the HEIC file and select Open with > Photos.
- Press Ctrl + P and select Microsoft Print to PDF.
- Choose the paper size and orientation, then check the print preview.
- Click Print and choose where to save the PDF.
If Photos cannot open the file, check whether the required HEIF image support is installed. Some systems may also need HEVC support. For several pictures, the browser workflow below gives you batch conversion and a choice of combined or separate output.
Batch convert HEIC to PDF online for free with PDFgear
PDFgear’s free HEIC converter works on Windows and Mac and lets you convert HEIC to PDF online for free without installing an application or signing in. You can batch convert HEIC to PDF by selecting all the pictures together, rather than repeating the conversion for each file.
- Open PDFgear’s HEIC to PDF online tool in your browser.
- Select all the HEIC files you want to convert.
- Adjust the image settings and click Convert to start the conversion.
- Download the PDF and check that the result meets your requirements.
Before converting, you can adjust Page orientation and Page size to control how the pictures fit on the PDF pages. Check these settings particularly carefully when your selection contains both portrait and landscape photos.
To convert multiple HEIC files into one PDF, leave Convert images into separate PDFs unchecked. To convert HEIC images to separate PDF files, select that checkbox so each image becomes its own PDF.
The conversion runs locally in your browser, so you can convert HEIC to PDF without uploading files to a server. An online interface does not necessarily mean remote processing, and you do not need to switch to a desktop application to keep these images on your computer.
Convert a HEIC image with Adobe Acrobat online
Adobe Acrobat also offers an online HEIC to PDF converter. Use its dedicated web tool rather than assuming the free Acrobat Reader desktop app supports the same conversion workflow. Sign-in requirements and free-use limits may apply.
- Open Adobe Acrobat’s online HEIC to PDF tool.
- Select the HEIC file you want to convert.
- Wait for the conversion to finish.
- Download the PDF, signing in if prompted.
A full-featured PDF tool with HEIC support lets you convert HEIC to PDF without converting to JPG first, avoiding intermediate JPEG files and an extra conversion step. Keep the original pictures until you have checked the PDF’s page orientation, image placement, and readability.

On Windows 11, a convenient way to convert HEIC to PDF on Windows is to open one image in Microsoft Photos and use the built-in Microsoft Print to PDF printer. For multiple HEIC images, an online converter can combine them into one multi-page PDF, while some tools can also create a separate PDF for each image.
Convert one HEIC to PDF with Microsoft Print to PDF
The Windows 11 Photos app can open a HEIC image and send it to the built-in Microsoft Print to PDF virtual printer. If Photos cannot open the file, install the HEIF Image Extensions and any additional codec Windows recommends.
- Open the HEIC image in Microsoft Photos.
- Press Ctrl + P.
- Select Microsoft Print to PDF as the printer.
- Choose the paper size, orientation, and photo layout.
- Click Print, enter a filename, and save the PDF.
This is a convenient built-in method that keeps the conversion on the PC, but it provides limited control over page arrangement and becomes inconvenient when converting many HEIC images.
Convert HEIC to PDF online for free with PDFgear
PDFgear provides a free online HEIC-to-PDF converter that does not require an account or sign-in. It supports individual images and lets you batch convert HEIC to PDF when you need to process several photos in one session. When you add multiple HEIC photos, you can rearrange them and combine them into one multi-page PDF, or convert each image into a separate PDF.
- Open the official PDFgear HEIC to PDF online tool: www.pdfgear.com/heic-to-pdf/
- Click Select Image Files.
- Add one or more HEIC images and arrange them in the required order.
- Wait for the automatic conversion to finish.
- Click Download File to save the PDF.
PDFgear processes the images locally in the browser, so the HEIC files are not uploaded to a server. This local processing helps protect file privacy and security.
Use Adobe Acrobat Online to convert HEIC files
Adobe Acrobat Online also provides a dedicated HEIC-to-PDF tool. It can convert one HEIC image or combine multiple HEIC files into a single PDF.
- Open Adobe Acrobat’s online HEIC-to-PDF converter.
- Click Select files and add the HEIC images.
- Arrange the images if necessary.
- Start the conversion.
- Download the resulting PDF, signing in if Adobe requests it.
Adobe’s tool is convenient if you already use Adobe services, but files are processed through Adobe’s online service. For sensitive images that should remain entirely on your PC, use an offline workflow instead.
For one HEIC photo on Windows 11, Microsoft Photos and Microsoft Print to PDF provide a convenient built-in workflow. For multiple images, you can convert HEIC without Acrobat with PDFgear, which can create either one multi-page PDF or separate PDF files for free. Adobe Acrobat Online is an alternative when you only need to combine the images into one PDF.

If you need to convert several iPhone HEIC photos into a PDF without installing extra software, PDFgear’s online HEIC to PDF tool is a straightforward option.
Open the converter in your browser, then select or drag in all of the HEIC files at once. Before converting, you can arrange the images in the correct order and choose whether to combine them into one multi-page PDF or create a separate PDF for each image. You can also adjust the page orientation and paper size if the photos will be printed.
After clicking Convert, download the finished PDF and check the first few pages to make sure the photos are in the right order and remain clear. This is particularly useful for a batch of iPhone photos, since it avoids opening and printing each HEIC file one by one in Windows.

- KoenpkIron ContributorOne thing to note is not using the online HEIC to PDF Converter for this purpose. With online converter, there are several risks, particularly related to security and privacy. When you upload your HEIC files to an online converter, you’re essentially handing over your personal data to a third-party service. This can be risky if the files contain sensitive or confidential information, as you have no control over how your data is stored, processed, or potentially shared.
Moreover, online converters often come with limitations in terms of file size, quality, and batch processing. You may experience compressed image quality, restrictions on the number of files you can convert at once, or even watermarks on your converted PDFs. - FinneganfgBrass Contributor
Did you know that Windows has a built-in feature that can convert HEIC to PDF? Yes, you read that right! Here's how:
1. Open File Explorer and navigate to the folder where your HEIC file is located.
2. Right-click on the HEIC file and select "Open with" > "Windows Photo Viewer".
3. Once the file opens in Windows Photo Viewer, click on "File" > "Save As" > "Save as type: PDF".
4. Choose a location to save the file and click "Save".
5. And that's it! You should now have a free converted PDF file from your HEIC file. - LuccaskIron ContributorThe HEIF Image Extensions are pretty basic. While they do a solid job of letting you open and view HEIC files, features for converting HEIF Image to PDF might not be as robust as you'd expect. You may find yourself wishing you could tweak things more—like adjusting quality or size before the conversion. I remember trying to convert some images and wanting to resize them first, but it was a hassle.
- RodrigoserTin ContributorIf you decide to go the online route for converting HEIC to PDF on Windows computer, you've got to be wary of site reliability and safety. Some sites can be sketchy, and you never really know if your files are secure. I've had paranoid moments where I almost didn't want to upload anything because I wasn't sure who could see it.
