File History not working in Windows 11 for system backup. Any good alternative?
I started using DISMBackup after I wanted a more complete backup than simply keeping copies of personal files. When File history stops working on Windows 11, this tool can capture the Windows partition as a WIM image, including the system files, installed applications, and settings.
What I find useful is that the image can be stored locally and used later for recovery, giving me a system-level backup rather than just a collection of individual files.
After using DISMBackup for a while, the biggest challenge for me was that creating a full system image requires more time and storage than a normal file backup. When File history stops working on Windows 11, I still prefer this approach because it gives me a more complete recovery option.
The interface is also less beginner-friendly than a typical backup app, so I had to pay closer attention to the backup location and available disk space. Despite that learning curve, I still find it useful for keeping a local system image.
