Failed to upgrade Windows 10 to Windows 11 23H2 on my PC
I recently wanted to upgrade Windows 10 to Windows 11 23H2 and found a completely free tool, Media Creation Tool, that worked great and required no other software. Here are the details of how I upgraded with it and my experience.
Click "Download Now" in the “Create Windows 11 Installation Media” section, and I got a file called MediaCreationToolW11.exe. After downloading it, I double-clicked it to run it, agreed to the license terms, and the tool asked me what I wanted to do, so I selected "Upgrade this computer now" and clicked "Next". It started automatically downloading the Windows 11 23H2 installation file.
After the download was complete, the tool asked me to choose what to keep, I chose "Keep personal files and applications" and then clicked "Install". The whole installation process took about 40 minutes, during which the computer restarted several times, and there was a progress bar on the screen, which felt quite intuitive. After the installation, the system automatically enters the Windows 11 23H2 welcome screen, I set the language and region, and can use the new system. The whole process was completely free, and the tool doesn't have any paid versions, so I'm quite relieved to use this method to upgrade Windows 10 to Windows 11 23H2.
In terms of experience, I found Media Creation Tool to be very flexible, as it can also create USB installation disks, which are suitable for reinstalling the system in the future. However, the first time I used it, there are a few more steps, which may feel a bit complicated, but after getting familiar with it, it will be very simple, and it's worth it for updating from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
