Removing a background does not always require installing a desktop editor. CutItOut works as an open-source photo background eraser that uses WebAssembly and local AI models inside the browser, so the image can be processed directly on the device.
How to Use the Photo Background Removal
- Open the tool in a web browser that supports it.
- Import the photo from which you want to remove the background.
- Allow the local AI model to load in your browser.
- Start the background removal process and wait for the subject to be separated from the background.
- Check the detected edges of the subject and preview the results.
- Export the processed image; if you need a transparent background, we recommend exporting it in PNG format.
As a browser-based photo background removal tool, processing speed depends on your device and browser. Large images and areas with fine details such as hair or translucent objects may take longer to process or require additional adjustments.

- The first time you use it, the AI model will take a little while to load.
- Before exporting, check the edges of details such as hair, fur, and transparent objects.
- To preserve a transparent background, use the PNG format.
