DVD burning software that actually works in 2026 for Windows 11?
Your Windows 11 computer has already built-in CD burning functionality in the File Explorer, which can be used as a DVD burning software. This method is completely free, without ads.
What this method CAN do:
- Burn data DVDs for backing up files, photos, documents, and music
- Create discs that work on most computers and DVD players (when using the correct format)
- Finalize discs so they are readable on other devices
Step-by-Step use DVD burning software
Step 1: Insert a blank DVD into your computer's DVD burner drive. After a few seconds, Windows should show a notification asking what you want to do.
Step 2: Select "Burn files to disc" from the notification. If no notification appears, open File Explorer, right-click your DVD drive, and choose "Burn to disc".
Step 3: Name your disc and select "With a CD/DVD player" as the format.
Step 4: Drag and drop files into the window that opens. Watch the capacity bar at the bottom—standard DVDs hold about 4.7 GB.
Step 5: Click "Finish burning" in the Drive Tools tab at the top of the window.
Step 6: Wait for the process to complete. Windows will eject the disc automatically when finished. Re-insert it to verify your files burned correctly.
