Chrome drops from being default upon reboot
When I turn off laptop and upon restart chrome is no longer default and must be reset in settings default apps. There has been nothing added (programs or apps) and scans by Defender and Malwarebytes come up empty.

Go to Settings > Apps > Default Apps. Scroll down and click on "Reset to Microsoft recommended defaults" to see if that stabilizes the settings.
Microsoft defaults automatically to Edge...this answer does not help making Chrome the default.
