Can't Get Windows 11 Computers To Network

I have two HP Pro Tower G9 computers that are pretty much identical. They have 12th Gen Intel Core 13-12100 processors running at 3.3 GHz, both have 32 Gb memory. They are both running Windows 11 Pro OS build 26100.3476.

Something else they have in common: They do not want to communicate over the network! The icons for the respective computers on on each other's displays, but when I click on the icon, I get a message that the network path was not found.

I have turned off firewalls and antivirus programs on both machines, have made sure SMBv1 is enabled on both, set sharing protocols to the hard drives on both machines, but still can't get past the network path was not found issue.

At this point, I really don't care if they cannot find the other computers on the network, but I would like to get these two on speaking terms with each other.

  • Modern Windows 11 versions have tightened security, and even with SMBv1 enabled, some settings may block network discovery.

  • Ensure that both computers are in the same workgroup and are using the same network protocols, and then try network sharing of folders or printers

Getting Windows 11 PCs to talk can sometimes be tricky because of default security and network policies, but these steps usually fix the common issues. If you want, I can walk you through any of these steps in detail.
