Bluetooth earphones / headphones with microphone enabled sound very bad / distorted Windows 11

Hello! I'm trying to use my bluetooth earphones / headphones with the build in mic.

But the sound quality is unusable without disableing the microphone (Handsfree Telephony).

This seems like a simple thing to do, the headset works on every other device (phone, tablet, another Windows 11 laptop (work),...). 

Does anyone know a real fix for this? Not the fix with disableing the microphone because I need to use it...

    try lowing the gain of the microphone within the windows app. It may be that it's turned up too much causing distortion, it's either that, or perhaps a driver issue with your sound card.

      It's not the microphone that sounds bad, it's the music, the sound from my games or movies that sounds bad. I have the latest drivers for my bluetooth dongle and all the latest windows updates.
