Best way to compress flac audio files to small size?
FlicFlac is a tiny, portable, and completely free tool that can convert FLAC files to MP3 or OGG to compress FLAC files to a much smaller size. It works by converting the lossless FLAC audio into a lossy format, which is the only practical way to significantly reduce the file size.
Here is what you should know about using it:
How it works: FlicFlac uses a two-step process to compress FLAC files. For example, it decodes the FLAC to WAV first, then encodes that WAV to MP3 using the LAME encoder. This is all automated by the tool.
Default settings: By default, it encodes MP3s at 192kbps, which offers a good balance between file size and audio quality.
Customizing compression: You can adjust the MP3 bitrate or switch to Variable Bitrate (VBR) by editing the FlicFlac.ini configuration file, allowing you to compress FLAC files even more (e.g., to 128kbps) for a smaller size.
FlicFlac is an excellent choice for quickly and freely compressing FLAC files to a more manageable size using a straightforward drag-and-drop interface.
