An Extremely *Trivial* Question about W11 Startup
- Jul 02, 2026
Hi, that kind of single beep during startup is usually not the normal Windows welcome sound itself. I’d check whether it is coming from the PC firmware, an OEM utility, a connected device, or a startup app that loads before the desktop is fully ready. If the machine otherwise starts normally and there are no warnings in Device Manager or Event Viewer, it may just be a driver or device notification sound. You can also test by disconnecting nonessential USB devices for one boot and checking Windows sound settings to see whether any system event sound matches the beep.
Hi,
I regret the delay in answering; I have health problems.
Thank you for your reply. What you wrote makes a lot of sense!
The sound doesn't seem to have any affect; it just beeps and that's it. Everything starts normally and everything (generally) works fine. (I have had some problems with a few MS updates. *sigh*)
I don't know if I'll try the disconnecting of USB devices as I cannot easily get to some of them.
As I said, I just wondered. It actually is sort of reassuring to hear it when my PC is booting up, because it means that at least some things are working as they suppose to.
Again, THANKS!
