All MS icons in the Tray and Start button stopped working
I download and installed Dell recovery onto my system. I was having many many problems, such as all USB and Thunderbolt ports stopping. My mouse would stop working and the only way to get it back...
This is a serious and frustrating issue, but the pattern you've described strongly suggests a software/driver conflict rather than a failing motherboard.
