Wish: Possibility to rename Bluetooth devices
It is possible to rename Bluetooth devices in Windows 10.
Here's how:
- Open the Settings app and go to Devices > Bluetooth & other devices.
- Find the device you want to rename in the list of paired devices and click on it.
- Click on the "Device name" field and enter the new name you want to give to the device.
- Click on the "Rename" button to save the new name.
That's it! The Bluetooth device should now appear with its new name in the list of paired devices. You can repeat this process for each Bluetooth device that you want to rename.
Alternatively, you can also rename Bluetooth devices using the Control Panel:
- Open the Control Panel and go to Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers.
- Find the Bluetooth device you want to rename and right-click on it.
- Select "Properties" from the context menu.
- Click on the "General" tab and enter the new name you want to give to the device in the "Device name" field.
- Click on the "OK" button to save the new name.
The Bluetooth device should now appear with its new name in the Devices and Printers window.
I hope this helps!

I don't see at all what you are talking about. I was talking about Win 10. Are you?
1. In the Devices > Bluetooth & other devices, this is what I have:
I clicked on the device (BT5.0 Mouse) as you suggested. There is ONLY one button called "Remove device". Right-click has no use. Where did you see the "Device name" field?
2. In Control Panel > etc ..... > Properties dialog, this is what I get:
The "General" tab has no field to input whatsoever.

I was referring to Windows 10.
Control Panel ( Open with the key combination [Windows] + [R]. Enter "control" there and confirm with "OK" or [Enter])
> Devices and Printers
> select device
> right mouse button
> Properties
> Bluetooth
> Customize name or .Change
> OKIt seems that the steps I provided may not work for your specific device or version of Windows 10. Some Bluetooth devices may not have the option to be renamed through the Windows settings.
However, you may be able to rename your Bluetooth device through its manufacturer’s software or app. You can check the device’s documentation or the manufacturer’s website for more information on how to do this.- robinmckJul 14, 2025Copper Contributor
