Windows10 Hibernate option is missing from the Power Menu after connecting an external display

Connecting a monitor should not remove Hibernate, so first determine whether it remains available underneath the menu. Open an elevated Command Prompt, run powercfg /a, and note the reason shown if Hibernate is unavailable. Run powercfg /hibernate on, then open Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable and select Hibernate. Reconnect the display and repeat powercfg /a. If Hibernate remains available but only the menu entry disappears, test shutdown /h; success confirms a menu or graphics integration problem. Install Windows updates and the PC maker’s graphics, chipset, dock, and monitor firmware. Test the monitor directly without a dock, then another cable and port. Roll back the display driver if this began immediately after its update.
