Update the drivers + uninstall problematic patches + repair the system – these three steps will restore display and sound.
Thanks for the reply. This happened about a year ago. Luckily I just did a system restore/backup and it reverted to functioning correctly. Now I just have to diligently block all windows updates as best as I can, so they don't break my system again.
