Windows 11 Scheduler Fails to Execute my Scheduled Tasks

Greetings,

I am currently utilizing an ASUS laptop and an Acer Aspire 5. My objective is to automate a daily task to resume from hibernation at 9am and launch an Excel workbook.

The operating system on both machines is Windows 11 Home, Version 23H2, Build 22631.3737, installed on 15/3/2024. I have opted to deactivate the Windows 11 logon screen.

Although the task scheduler successfully runs tasks created by software providers, I am encountering difficulties in executing tasks I create myself. These tasks, including opening cmd.exe or notepad.exe, do not run on either of my laptops, indicating that I may be overlooking a crucial step.

Despite extensively researching through videos and investing hours into this endeavor, I am on the brink of frustration. Upon setting a task, its status is marked as ready, but unfortunately, nothing occurs at the designated time.

Interestingly, attempting to manually trigger a task within the scheduler, designated by a green triangle, also proves unsuccessful. Nonetheless, I am able to manage other functions like disabling/enabling tasks and adjusting properties without any issues.

I have diligently ensured that the machines are configured to awaken from hibernation and have rebooted after each task edit, although it remains unclear if this step is necessary.

Despite pursuing what appears to be a straightforward task, it has proven to be quite time-consuming and perplexing.

One notable deviation from the numerous tutorial videos is that I am prompted to input my Windows password when saving the task.

I find myself at a loss, seeking a resolution to this predicament.

  • Use "Run with highest privileges" and "Run whether user is logged on" (enter your password). Verify program paths and arguments. Enable "Wake the computer to run this task." Test manually. Check the task history for errors.
