Windows 11 Pro upgrade from Windows 10 without losing data?
Before upgrading to Windows 11 Pro from Windows 10 Home, check whether your computer meets the minimum system requirements. Windows 11 requires a 64-bit processor, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage, Secure Boot, and TPM 2.0. If the device does not meet these requirements, the upgrade may fail or require workaround methods.
Make sure there is enough free disk space before starting the upgrade. The installation process usually needs at least 30–40 GB of available storage to download files and complete the upgrade smoothly. Running Disk Cleanup or removing unnecessary files can help avoid installation errors.
It is also important to back up important files before upgrading. Although an in-place upgrade normally keeps personal files and installed apps, unexpected problems such as power failure or installation errors could cause data loss. Using an external drive or cloud storage for backup is recommended.
Finally, update Windows 10 and device drivers before starting the upgrade. Installing the latest Windows updates and drivers improves compatibility and reduces the chance of upgrade issues. Temporarily disabling third-party antivirus software can also help prevent installation conflicts.
