Windows 11 Pro upgrade from Windows 10 without losing data?
If your PC meets the hardware requirements, the easiest way to upgrade from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 Pro is through Windows Update. Here's how to do it:
1. Check Compatibility
Before proceeding, ensure your PC is compatible with Windows 11. You can run the PC Health Check tool from Microsoft to verify this. If your system passes, you're good to go.
2. Backup Your Data
It's always a good idea to back up important files before any major update.
3. Verify Your Windows Activation
Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation and confirm that your Windows 10 Pro is activated.
4. Open Windows Update
Navigate to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
Click Check for updates.
5. Look for the Windows 11 Pro upgrade?
If your device is eligible, you should see a message similar to "Upgrade to Windows 11 is ready" or "Windows 11 Pro upgrade?". This indicates that your device qualifies for the free upgrade.
6. Download and Install
Click Download and Install.
Follow the on-screen instructions. The process will download the necessary files and prepare your system for installation.
7. Complete the Upgrade
Your PC will restart several times during the process. Afterward, you'll be running Windows 11 Pro for free.
