Windows 10 Freezing After Latest Security Update
Choose Your Solution: Use 91% or 99% Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA). Higher concentrations evaporate almost instantly and will not cause electrical shorts or corrosion as long as the board is fully dry before turning the PC back on.
Wipe Carefully: Lightly dampen a cotton swab (Q-tip) or a lint-free microfiber cloth with the alcohol. Gently scrub the sticky or corroded areas. Be careful not to snag or break off any of the tiny surface-mount resistors or capacitors.
Clean Ports and Slots: For hard-to-reach areas like PCIe slots or RAM DIMM slots, dampen the tip of a soft toothbrush in alcohol and gently scrub up and down inside the slot.
Never use standard tap water. Tap water is conductive and contains minerals that will corrode and permanently damage the circuitry.
Do not scrub aggressively. Motherboards feature tiny, delicate components that can easily be knocked off.
Let it dry completely. Never plug in or turn on your computer immediately after using alcohol. Wait at least 30-60 minutes to ensure every trace of alcohol has fully evaporated, particularly deep inside ports or beneath larger components.
Replacing thermal paste on your CPU is straightforward: power down your PC, remove the cooler, thoroughly clean both metal surfaces with high-percentage isopropyl alcohol, apply a fresh pea-sized dot (or X pattern) of paste, and reinstall the cooler.
