Why? Too many startup applications!

My computer has become very slow to start, and I believe it’s because there are too many applications launching automatically when I turn on my device. I want to understand why this is happening and how I can manage or reduce the number of startup programs to improve my computer's performance.

  • That’s a very common cause of slow boot times. Many programs add themselves to Windows startup by default so they’re ready to use immediately, but having too many of them can noticeably delay startup.

How to see what’s starting with Windows

The easiest way is through Task Manager:

    1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
    2. If needed, click More details.
    3. Select the Startup apps tab.
    4. Review the Startup impact column.
    5. Right-click programs you don’t need immediately after signing in and choose Disable.

Disabling a startup app does not uninstall it. It simply prevents it from launching automatically.

Many applications add themselves to the startup list to run in the background, which can consume system resources.

Some items are essential for your system or security (like your antivirus or drivers). If you're unsure about a program, it's safer to leave it enabled or search its name online first.
