Where does the cursor go when I move it to the second monitor?

I use two monitors with my Windows PC, but sometimes I get confused about where the mouse cursor goes when I move it toward the second screen. It seems to disappear briefly or appear in an unexpected position, especially when I move it across the edge of the primary monitor. I have checked the display arrangement, but I still cannot figure out why this happens. Is there a way to fix it?

Even with the screens arranged correctly, different resolutions or scaling levels can make the pointer cross at an unexpected height. Windows uses the display rectangles in Settings, which may not match the monitors’ physical sizes.

Open Settings > System > Display, click Identify, then check the vertical alignment of those rectangles. If one is taller, try lining up their top edges and crossing near the top as a test. Keep each monitor at its recommended resolution.

On Windows 11, also try toggling Multiple displays > Ease cursor movement between displays, if available. It can help the pointer cross otherwise blocked edges, but may also explain a noticeable jump.

To locate the pointer quickly, open Mouse settings > Additional mouse settings > Pointer Options and enable Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key. That helps distinguish an unexpected position from the pointer genuinely failing to display.
