Dismissing the promotion usually closes that particular prompt; it doesn’t necessarily opt you out of future ones. I can’t confirm a date when Microsoft will stop showing them.
The right setting depends on where it appears:
- A Windows notification: open Settings > System > Notifications and identify the sending app. You can turn off its notifications, but that may also hide useful alerts from that app.
- A banner or “Try the new Outlook” switch inside classic Outlook: Windows notification settings won’t control it. On a work PC, ask IT about Microsoft’s HideNewOutlookToggle setting. That hides the switch, but isn’t a universal blocker for every promotional message.
These changes don’t disable Office updates. Avoid turning updates off to suppress the promotion—there isn’t one supported personal setting that permanently blocks every form of new-Outlook advertising.
