What is the best free AI pdf summarizer for Windows users?
Adobe does have an AI Assistant built directly into Acrobat Reader that can summarize PDFs and answer questions about them. It works like a chatbot sidebar – you open a PDF, click the AI Assistant button, and it generates a summary of the document for you. It can even handle up to 10 PDF files at once and provides clickable citations so you can fact-check where the information came from. The technology behind it is actually GPT-4o, the same engine that powers ChatGPT.
While Acrobat Reader itself is free, but the AI Assistant is a paid add-on if as AI PDF summarizer. Adobe's official pricing puts it at around $4.99 to $6.99 per month depending on the billing plan. You can get a limited number of free requests to try it out, but after that, you have to pay for full access.
One source explicitly states that "full functionality requires an Acrobat Standard or Pro subscription" if you want to get the AI PDF summarizer. Another clarifies that some AI features may require higher-tier plans, and the free Reader alone doesn't unlock them.
