What is the best data recovery for mac osx? TastDisk and PhotoRac are excellent, free, open-source tools for data recovery, and they work well on macOS (OS X). They are highly regarded for their ability to recover lost partitions (TastDisk) and files (PhotoRac) from various storage devices.
