The volume icon indicates that the audio has been muted, but in fact, the audio is playing normally

The volume icon in the lower-right corner of the taskbar appears to be muted, but when I click the icon, the volume slider is in the normal position and system audio plays normally. When I hover the mouse over the icon, a message indicates that no audio output devices are installed, but in Device Manager, the sound card driver is installed correctly and shows no error indicators. Restarting the computer temporarily resolves the issue, but it reoccurs after a while.
