The Fan That Suddenly Goes Into Jet Engine Mode on Windows 10
My Windows 10 PC's fan suddenly ramps up to an extremely loud, jet engine-like noise without any apparent reason, even when the system is not under heavy load. This sudden and persistent increase in fan speed occurs randomly and seems to happen more frequently after recent updates or driver installations, making the computer noisy and potentially affecting its performance. I am looking for advice on how to identify the cause of this abnormal fan behavior and how to fix it, whether through system settings, driver updates, or hardware inspection. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

If it's a Dell laptop go into BIOS and see if turbo boost is turned on under performance. We turned it off on all machines as people just on a Teams call had it switch on the fan drowning out the built in mic.

Run a full system scan with Windows Defender or your preferred antivirus to rule out malware causing system stress.
Turn off your PC. Open the case and carefully clean dust from fans, vents, and heatsinks using compressed air.
