The 'End Task' Option in the Taskbar Context Menu Does Nothing, But Alt+F4 Still Works
Windows 10 where the 'End Task' option in the taskbar context menu does not respond or do anything when I try to use it to close applications. However, the keyboard shortcut Alt plus F4 still works correctly to close windows, which suggests that the taskbar's right-click option is unresponsive. This problem occurs randomly and affects multiple applications, making it difficult to manage and close unresponsive programs through the taskbar. I am seeking advice on how to troubleshoot and fix this issue so that the 'End Task' option functions properly, as it is an essential feature for managing applications more conveniently. Any guidance or step-by-step solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Nskdo, since Alt+F4 still works, the app window itself is probably fine and the issue is more likely with Explorer, the taskbar menu, or a shell extension. I’d restart Windows Explorer from Task Manager, then test after disabling third-party taskbar/customization tools. If this “End Task” option was added by a tweak or utility, that tool may be the part failing rather than Windows itself.
